The History of Walking Malls
In some ways you're sort of bringing the lifestyle center back. The history of pedestrian malls was this guy Victor Gruen. He developed the indoor shopping mall in Minnesota and then felt real guilty about it. So he basically brought the idea of pedestrianizing streets to make essentially the shopping mall come to downtowns.
