The Effects of Steroid Tapers on Adrenal Insufficiency
Casey: I think the other thing that surprised me was just hearing the impact of multiple bursts of steroids over time. There have been a number of studies that have looked at these populations of people against small N, but you know, if we have say there was one study of about 300 patients who were given prednisone for short courses like a couple weeks and 10% developed adrenal insufficiency. So what I'm taking away from that is that these patients that are on multiple courses of steroids might actually benefit from a steroid taper because they're at higher risk of adrenal insuffsicency.
