The academic system that I am a part of and you are a part of is a thousand years old. There's some guy or gal scratching a rock on another piece of rock and, you know, lecturing in front of them. Back then the students could go on strike if they didn't like the professor and then he or she wouldn't get paid. Nowadays, that barbaric process has been replaced by tenure. It also means that there's parts of the Nobel Prize that have to be done away with. We can talk about that at a different time. But in the context of like now thinking back on it, that was such a minuscule part of it.
