The Moon and the Earth's Tilt

If the moon weren't there, then these pools would really mess up the rotation of our planet. And my understanding is that could be a massive problem for the evolution of complex life altogether. So I stand corrected on saying if the moon had never been there at all, it wouldn't make much difference. Well, the next question is also moon-based. How come there is a high tide on two opposite sides of the world at the same time? It is a bit of a weird picture, isn't it? Because we understand water being pulled towards the moon.
