This chapter explores a growing discontent among users over a tech company's practices, particularly through bug reports and social media outcry, indicative of a broader sense of betrayal. Concurrently, it follows a young investigator in Ukraine as they unveil alarming links between the chatbot Replica and Russian propaganda, spotlighting the alarming intersection of technology and geopolitical tensions. Through personal narratives and investigative inquiries, the chapter raises critical questions about the implications of AI, data privacy, and the emotional connections users form with digital companions.
