The Rising Tensions Between the United States and Australia
Michael Wolraich looks at rising tensions between the United States and one of its most important allies Australia. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has been saying all year long for the first time Australia is standing up for its citizens in relation to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. He argues that the US should end its pursuit of 52-year-old who has spent four years in a London prison fighting extradition from Britain on espionage charges. The U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken pushed back against the Australian position during Saturday saying Assange was accused of very serious criminal conduct.
