The book of Revelation has the same meaning for all of us to use the image of Babylon. Rome was Babylon and so too were other empires that persecuted the people of God. Those empires will always be present in the world until Christ returns. So futurism has something helpful to say that idealism gets wrong. There is a consummation in the book of Revelation, but if we say it's only future, what does that mean for us?
