The CSI effect can be problematic when on jury duty, says FBI instructor. ERT members who are called to testify during court cases make a priority to set the record straight and teach non-experts what actually happens at a crime scene. This emphasis on detail doesn't only ensure that jurors are informed about process; it also helps when they're confident by demonstrating that the evidence response team didn't overlook any steps while processing the crime scene.
