Zhengchunggong founded the Kingdom of Dongning in 1661. This would serve as the political entity that represented the interests of the Zheng empire, which still included restoration of southern Ming emperor Yong Li onto his rightful throne. The local indigenous people living in Taiwan, whether they wanted it or not, received their first coordinated injection of sinusization during this period. As for the Dutch, when 1662, after being ejected from Taiwan, they went on to form an alliance with the Qing government and helped them defeat the Zengs. They were even able to resume trading operations from a Taiwan base, carrying out business from a brand new fort they constructed in Jilong. In
