The Functions of Inner Speech

There had been a view that language wasn't doing an awful lot. Now, I think there is evidence that this kind of language does do useful things for us. Not everybody uses it; they get to the same end in different ways. For example, some of the earliest work by Vygotsky and Luria asked how in a separate speech, you know, and presumably also in a speech has a role in planning.
