The Great One Sacrificing Himself
Alex Amazon: The idea of a great one who sacrifices himself for those who are not great is so deeply moving that it's woven into all of our stories. If we went back just 2000 years or a little more than 2000 years ago, and we told that same story, it would have become graffiti on a wall because it would have been ridiculous. He says the concept of sacrifice being virtuous rather than a sign of utter weakness and contemptibility was a gift of Christianity to the world.
