We often experience a sentimental effort when we do something hard or we're thinking about something in a that's difficult. But if you give people the freedom to choose tasks, their reward they get for doing this task is the same. And one thing is it's seems as though ideas which are kind of older ideas like resource conservation haven't held up well to evidence.
