I was rather hyperactive. And in those days, and I think in those days specifically, if you were not academic, you were sort of dumb. They gave the impression to my parents that I was dumb. What I was was dyslexic. In these classes of 45 children, you could sit at the back but whenever you were asked anything,. you had to go to the front and recite poems. But I wasn't able to do that. My mother used to take me to the French Institute all the time to watch French film because she was missing her culture really. She didn't speak very good English and she really missed her culture. As a dyslexic I could relate to
