CHAPTER

The Importance of Ensemble in a Film

In terms of an ensemble, just like when you've got your D plot being fully fleshed out for tertiary characters, I find that incredible. And then that you start using them to have an impact on the other characters as well. How do you reconcile that interpretation of the film with the fact that they ultimately killed a whole bunch of people that weren't responsible for killing his wife? The twist at the end that ultimately they picked a fight with a biking gang that had nothing to do with what happened? It's a dramatic irony. They can't do it with the defense. But I think also visually exemplifies the way that the film is trying to say we are all connected.
