The Importance of Culture in Startups

Culture is really crafted and it's top-down. early employee joining a company that is just with founders new the first 10 15 do you have any tips or advice for operators who might be joining a company  that are sub 20 people? i would say it's an ownership mentality like you are hopefully literally an owner in terms of having ESOC or employee shares. Lack of transparency is a big one egos and an unwillingness to acknowledge what we don't know, not being empathetic enoughnot holding high standards for people.

lack of transparency is a big one egos and an unwillingness to you know acknowledge what we don't know and and sort of take a very like scientific inquiry approach to building a startup like everything's a hypothesis right and so everything's there to be proven or disproven and so i think like that balance between having very clear conviction around your vision and a sort of go through the walls mentality is so important in startups but also become a destructive force internally for the culture if people feel like they can't challenge even potentially to bring better ideas or contradictory evidence or being able to kind of course correct in the face of contradictory evidence sort of not being empathetic enough not holding high enough standards for people the modern version of nepotism is like i used to work with them or i'm mates with them or you know what you know somehow having a non-merit based recognition system any form of bullying and you know harassment when
