Introduction

Seth Prins is a psychiatric epidemiologist and assistant professor of epidemiology and sociomedical sciences at Columbia University. His research centers around the collateral consequences of mass criminalization and mass incarceration for public health. He will talk about his work on something called criminogenic risk assessment, when statistical methods are used to predict what will happen to someone in the legal system or after. The goal being in theory that this reduces crime by targeting specific criminalized populations and people.
