Feminist push with pedagoge was to try to get these topics included in the curriculum. Previously they were excluded, thinking people thought they weren't important enough. Now we have a situation where we are at risk of having some of these topics go back out of the curriculum for other reasons. It might even involve, for some teachers, saying, i'm not teaching the whole area of sexual salt because of the risks that it carries.

Jeannie Suk Gersen is the John H. Watson, Jr. Professor of Law at Harvard Law School and a contributing writer at The New Yorker. She writes widely about the law and its impact on society.
