The Best Lies Run Parallel to the Truth

Jesus is acknowledging that there will be a destruction of the physical temple. The three days to rebuild it is an allusion to the resurrection and jesus defeat of death. But on closer examination, we have no record of jesus actually having said the thing he is accused of saying. He said, the best lies, the most effective lies, run parallel to the truth. A good old fashioned lie is going to take at least an of magnitude more energy to sort through and correct than it takes to create in the first place.
