Around 15 hundred refugees, boats full of refugees started to appear and land on the southern and of florida. These were indigenous people from cuba, from the large island a hundred or more miles to the south. And these people who were coming across and landing in florida, obtained refuge from the colusa. The kalusa were a major, powerful, militaristic kingdom that could plausibly protect these refugees from cuba.
