The Importance of Gentlementliness
The idea that men are supposed to be protective, that there's an essence to gentlementliness. A gentle man wouldn't lift, bro. You got a hard man is supposed to be the definition of what it means to be manly. Nasty, shrewish, this pitchy wine for lunch crowd gathers just to say, name things about the people who aren't at the table. Those are the gendered versions of what's happening to the right these days. It's just the institutionalization of meanness as a virtue and I think it's gross.
