Galatia - A Roman Province of the East

West of cilicia was lycia, pamphylia. It was also a roman provincewest of cappadocia. North of galatia were the combined provinces of bithynia and pontus. The rest of the west coast of anatolia was swallowed by the province of asia. Because it was a provincial backwat, early christianity was able to flourish there relatively unmolested by the roman authorities.
