I wonder if part of the reason they didn't make it longer or multiple episodes in a series is just how taxing this was for him to shoot it. He probably wasn't keen on letting people see all those skeletons in his closet. It doesn't take away from the empathy and the humanity of this story, which is what I was telling my son Isaac, who loves the back to the future movies. But it is just a compelling story and a reminder that these superstars that you worship have real problems.
