If you wanted to take the sun and move it close to another star, it is theoretically possible. There's this really cool idea called a scat off drive. One of the ideas is that as a futuristic civilization gets more and more powerful, they'll start to move the stars in their galaxy into a configuration that is more useful for what they want to do.
