The Quality of Studies Comparing Midlines and Central Lines

The infection rates based on this review seemed a lower than what's published for central lines. So, as I mentioned, they found about 0.28 per 1,000 catheter days. But then also, if you look at the mechanical complications, particularly DBT, those seem to be higher. And again, that's biologically supported because they terminate in a smaller vein and the flow rates are lower.
