Bill C-11 is the online streaming bill. The CRTC at its discretion can include people who use streaming services to distribute content. Section 4 of the bill says there's an exemption for social media users, but it depends on how much revenue they generate directly or indirectly. At committee, we heard from dozens of witnesses who market themselves and their content on platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube. We felt that that was a reasonable amendment. Unfortunately, it seems the government does not.
