Somatic work is when you reenact a trauma in your body to help heal it. When she was 23, LZ Granderson tried to drive her car off a cliff and stopped the car with his foot on the clutch instead of the parking brake. Her hands were clenched during manicures because she had been raised by fundamentalism. She learned how to relax them through massage as part of somatic work.
