The Defendant's Tweets About the Attack on the Capitol
The defendant repeatedly refused to approve a message directing rioters to leave the Capitol as urged by his most senior advisors. Instead, he issued two tweets that did not ask rioters to left the Capitol but instead falsely suggested that the crowd at the Capitol was being peaceful. In one of the calls, co-conspirator one left a voicemail intended for a United States senator saying, "We need you, our Republican friends, to try to just slow it down so we can get these legislatures to get more information"
