The Hard Problem of Consciousness

The psychologist had a man in a guerrilla costume walk onto the basketball court, turn to the public and the camera and wave and walk off. He then surveyed the participants later and asked them, how many passes did the white team make? And so as instructed, the participants did this. They were so busy counting passes they missed something as obvious as a gorilla on a basketball court waving to them and waving to the camera. Why is that? Well, I believe this selective attention affects our everyday life. It explains why we know so little about time.
