The Importance of Life in an International World

After graduating it wasn't until 1995 I believe that you had your first trip abroad outside of Germany, a scholarship in fact working in Mumbai. In that assignment I worked for again Siemens we created the first cellular network. It was one of the most shaping events in my life not in terms of technical work but more in terms of opening up the view and realizing how rich life is. That's where I decided to conduct a PhD at Edinburgh. And throughout this period you still had this very real health threat hanging over you. At that time there was a method to identify whether you have that detrimental gene for a degenerative sort of disease or not.
