Over 6 million prescriptions were issued by doctors for medicinal usage of alcohol. sacramental wine, not just for Christianity, but also for Judaism as well. Californian winemakers figured out they could sell people dried up raisin and grape cakes that were dry cakes. They would put warnings on the label saying caution, if you accidentally allow this to ferment, it would turn into wine.
