The Function of the Federalist Society in the Republican Party

The Federalist Society creates a kind of personal and professional incentive structure for conservatives, writes Julian Zelizer. He says the one justice on the court who has shown a remarkable ability to always vote in line with whatever the Republican Party wants at that moment is Sam Alito. But once you get to the court, he argues, your views are going to evolve over time. And so like maybe everyone just becomes Alito now, which I think would be bad, Zelizer adds.
