The first science project i ever did in a laboratory independently was in harry knoller's lab a santa cruz, so this is over 50 years ago. The hypothesis was that the mathylation would serve as recognition for ribozoma proteins to bind in the course of a ribazome assembly. And asked whether the distribution of methal groups was different in the two fractions. I figured out that the hypothesis was wrong.
