By the early nineteenth century, newspapers were printing increasingly fake stories to try to sell more copies. Fast forward almost 200 years and although technology has changed, the desire to make money from fake news hasn't. For example, in the run up to the two thousand and 16 us Election, there was a headline with the title, pope francis shocks world, indorses donald trump for president. This was completely untrue,. It had been created by a group of tenages in macedonia, in eastern europe. They couldn't care less who was in the white house. They simply wanted to attract people to their web sites, which had advertising, which would make them money.
