Orknes in the Hall Translation of Beowulf
Beowulf is the great epic of anglo saxon. It's an epic poem from the early middle ages. Written in old english, which is so unlike modern English that you need a glossary or translation to understand it. The term specifically that appears in beowulf is orknes or orkneus. A creature that's mentioned during the introduction of the monster grendel. Beowulf arrives at rothgar's mead hall, and the mead hall is being terrorized by attacks from this monster,grendel.
