How the Children Got From Fornam Saint Martin to Woolpit?
The children were in the fields outside fornham saint martin, tending their father's flocks when they heard church bells ringing. They thought that it was a pretty sound, and started following it, moving towards the abbey. And they got lost and overshot the abbey and ended up in the fieldsoutside woolpit. There are caves in the area, like horringer quart caves and glen chalk caves, both of which are in bury saint edmunds. So the children may well have entered such a cave while they were playing hooky for minding the flock.
