During the Cold War, money was pumped into ballistic missiles and rocketry programs that would take the US to the moon. But this time it's driven far more by military and commerce. We now know just how important the satellites are both to our nuclear early warning systems, to our surveillance, but also to our economies. If they all crash tomorrow, don't bother going to work because nothing's going to work. And the more that is the case, then the more they will become part of critical infrastructure.
