Cessaire's Introduction to Colonialism

Cessaire begins this chapter focused on several thinkers in particular, all of whom attempt to provide ideological cover for colonialism. Often these thinkers seem to challenge colonialism on a very basic surface level while actually providing ideological cover for it. The first of these intellectuals, that's Cessaire turns to as Pierre Giro, who was a French geographer. And Giro was an award-winning geographer whose Cessaire notes was able to find some useful insights regarding colonialism while ultimately providing cover for it at the same time.
