Is It Possible to Be a Liberal Democrat but Be an Illiberal Socialist?

I think human beings are capable of remarkable inconsistencies. I can imagine a professor who holds strongly liberal views on human rights and civil liberties, who is an authoritarian in the classroom. Is it possible for somebody to be illiberal in their politics, but a liberal professor? There are many ways of relating to young people, to students. And I suspect that some of the great teachers have been authoritarian figures.
