Why Qatar's Stadiums Cost $6.5 Billion a Year

Qatar built seven brand new stadiums at a whopping cost of $6.5 billion to host the World Cup in 2014. The country has plans to tear down at least one stadium and there's going to be some cost saving here. A few economists looked at the numbers and found that if a country simply placed a bid for a tournament, it helped the country nonetheless. They didn't have to even win it. So bid for the World Cup. Just don't win the rights to host it.
