The Battle of Omaha
The entire first wave had drowned on the beach and was making no progress at all. General Bradley mulled over whether or not he should continue with the landings in Omaha. Dempsey told him there was no space and that they couldn't land any more there. The decision to land infantry instead of support weapons was key in breaking the impasse.
