By nine a m, nine hours since the ex on valdes crashed into the reef, ricky ott has made it out to the spill side by air. She looks down at the tanker from a bush pilot's turba prop and gasps, it's worse than anyone could possibly imagine. The ship sits in the icy water like a rust red wound bleeding black blood, a horrible blot of oil spreading out like a tentacled monster.
