The Inquisition Theory of the Solar System
Dabid: We arrive, through argument, at theories whose explanation seem best to us. But why should we be obliged to take them as fact? The proposition that the inquisition forced galileo to endorse was in effect this, that the earth is, in fact, at rest with the sun and planets in motion around it. It would for seem that any observations that appear to support the heliocentric theory lend equal support to the inquisitions theory. If all you're interested in is supporting particular theories and making predictions, you can rely upon known to be false explanations. In fact, you don't really have to be concerned about explanations at all to begin with.
