The Sign of the Son of Man

In john chapter six, the multitude follow jesus to the other side of sea. His feeding of the five thousand had caused a stir this was a time of messianic fervor. Although they ave eaten their fill of the loaves and the fish, they did not see the sign. They never really perceived what was being communicated through the miracle. The food that jesus promises here is food that endures to eternal life,. which the son of man will give. This might agn recall the conversation with the woman at the well. Back in chapter four, where jesus speaks about living water, that is to be distinguished from the physical water in the well.
