How to De-Escalate Dementia in the Outpatient Setting?
Esther: I would say similar techniques also work in delirium, although obviously we're talking about more of an acute mental status change that's different from dementia. One of the biggest reasons why patients become agitated is because they don't have enough activities. We try to redirect them by changing the topic. And what happens is a lot of noise, a lot of commotion tends to really confuse them and actually they get really agitated.
