What Meditation Can Do for You?
The spiritual traditions are even better at training, which is that the lower level processes become an object to awareness. So you in effect transcend thinking. The straw of consciousness is easily filled by a train of thought or by emotion. If we're angry about something, we're not conscious of anything else,. We're just angry, you know, consumed. That's the time consumed by our anger, consumed by emotion and so on. What meditation does is because this is the key point that a strong emotion or a train ofthought contracts awareness down to that sequence of thinking. While ifconsciousness is unloaded, as it is if you’re in the present, then you have uncontracted awareness
