CHAPTER

The Lactate Paradox

When you go to altitude, or its equivalent, when you reduce the amount of oxygen, funny things happen. The first thing yu would think would happenske, you can't get enough oxygen, so you're ging to go anarobic sooner. And yet, the opposite happens. There's something alled the lactate paradox. If you try and exercised to exhaustion at lower levels of altitude, you actually give up when your lactate levels are lower than you would at sea level. But the picture that makes sense to me is is that these things are not just about how much oxygen is making it to the muscle. It's also like, what is your brain oxygen level?
