What Should the President Be Doing That He's Not Doing?
The president has given greater priority, manifestly, to his interstructure bill and to his social spending bill. He's got a lot of big issues on his plate, and shouldn't ignore them. A threat to the fundamental democratic institutions of the state that could result in an election being overthrown should rise higher on his priority list than it has. You have not seen him use his maximum efforts to adjust the filibuster for voting rights. It may be in part a question of marshalling his formal authority as president, but lots more of leadership has to do with marshalling public support and opposition to solve a problem.
