The Role of Hypocrisy in the Economy

I would be slightly resistant to using the category of hypocrisy because that in my view attributes too much almost conscious duplicitousness on the part of people. It isn't the case that all liberals are hypocrites they genuinely believe what they think and they genuinely have reasons for that. I don't go around saying I'm a horrible person so I think that's an important phenomenon too as we try to overcome wishful thinking which makes us seem not necessarily always to be pursuing the most noble of projects but at least not to be actively destructive.
