Is the Unification Church a Cult?
The church is often referred to as a cult, and I've seen it described as a cult a lot. 70% of the church's funding comes from Japan; they use this idea that Japanese people have to atone for colonization by donating to the church. The followers of the unification church try to recruit new members or make what's called spiritual sales for fundraising. They often hide their identity. A story that is often repeated is that initially there was this nice person who was very sympathetic and who would ask the person, the target, to, are you from the unification church? And so they are kind of using deception.
