"Cry Freedom" is about a man in apartheid South Africa who starts waking up to the idea that there are systemic injustices. "I couldn't believe how close this was in the rhetoric and the themes to the discussions that we're having today on wokeness," says CNN's John Sutter. The film centers white people, but I felt like in a way I really appreciated that in a way that I didn't in a movie like "Mississippi", he adds.
